Finish your setup

Benches and dumbbells do most of the work, but accessories fill the gaps. A pull-up bar adds the one movement dumbbells cannot replace. Floor mats protect your floor and make the space feel like a gym. Grip trainers build the hand strength that carries over to every pull and carry.

Start with these

  • Floor mats: the first thing to buy if you train on wood, tile or an apartment floor; they protect the floor under your dumbbells.
  • Pull-up bar: back and arm training with no extra floor space.
  • Grip trainers: small, cheap and easy to use while watching TV.

Gym Accessories: common questions

Will a doorway pull-up bar damage my door frame?

Pressure-mounted bars hold by pressing against the frame. Check that your frame is solid and within the listed width range, and follow the fitting instructions.

How thick should gym floor mats be?

Half-inch interlocking mats suit most home workouts with dumbbells, benches and bodyweight training.

Do I need gym mats on carpet?

Mats are still useful on carpet. They give a firmer, flatter surface for benches and protect the carpet from dents and sweat.

How many floor mats do I need?

Each tile covers a section of floor; measure your training area and divide by the tile size on the product page. Most small home gyms start with one pack under the bench and dumbbell area.

Will a doorway pull-up bar mark my door frame?

The bar uses leverage and padding rather than screws. Check the fitting checklist on the product page for frame widths (27 to 36 in) before you order.
